PURPOSE:To improve efficiency to a great extent by feeding a definite amount per capacity of a luminous tube of rare gas such as argon to fill in a transparent luminous tube. CONSTITUTION:Mercury; at least one metal halide selected from the group consisting of rare earth metal halides, sodium halide, and scandium halide; and a rare gas selected from the group consisting of argon, krypton, and xenon are filled in a transparent luminous tube 2, and 0.21mg/cc of the capacity of the luminous tube of rare gas is injected. Heretofore the concentration of metal halide at the upper part of the luminous tube has become different from that of the lower part, and color has changed between them with the relation among the flow velocity in the luminous tube, rare gas-injection pressure, atomic weight, and weight. Such a phenomenon can be relieved without increasing voltage of the lamp and efficiency can be improved to the great extent. |
