PURPOSE:To improve the degradation in gradation at the time of image magnifying by providing such a selecting means which forms a soft focus image at the displaying of a magnified image and a nonsoft focus image at the displaying of a reduced image. CONSTITUTION:A soft focus filter 24 is provided between a lens 22 and the fluorescent surface of a cathode ray tube 11. The filter 24 is fixed to a supporting plate 25, and is moved between the front surface of the lens 22 and the outer side of the fluorescent surface of the cathode ray tube 11 by the supporting plate 25. The movement of the supporting plate 25 is accomplished by a rotary solenoid 26. The rotary solenoid 26 so rotates the supporting plate 25 as to insert the filter 24 in the front face of lens 22 when the circuit is magnifying the image and to direct the filter 24 to the position outside the fluorescent surface of the cathode ray tube 11 at the image reducing. To this end, a control circuit 27 is provided and this circuit 27 operates the rotary solenoid 26 according to whether the signal of the image magnification or image reduction from the circuit 20.
