The invention relates to a device on a saw with at least two saw blades, which device is intended for passing workpieces such as stems, logs or boards into and through the saw and comprises a feed carriage which can be driven back and forth in parallel with the desired feed line on the entry side of the saw. The feed carriage carries an extension arm which is directed towards the saw and lies in the vertical plane containing the feed line and which has at its front end two gripping means which are arranged vertically one above the other and can grip a workpiece at its rear end. The extension arm with its gripping means is so narrow and so long that it can be pushed in between the two saw blades as far as is necessary for sawing through the workpiece over its entire length, while it is continuously held with the gripping means at its rear end. During the feed, the workpiece is supported by a long beam, a rail or the like which extends in the feed line from the entry side through the saw and further on the delivery side of the saw. |
