The alternator has a super-conducting inductor, with a non-magnetic exposed armature, operating in an insulated, refrigerated chassis screen. The armature consists of several packets of non-magnetic sheets, each consisting of plastics material stamped in a press and compressed between two sheets of Duralumin (RTM) stamped in a press, where the packets of sheets (13) are separated by cross beams of plastics material on the central axis, and above on the bars of the squirrel cage. Each packet contains 10 sheets of Duralumin the rest being plastics. In an alternative embodiment, the plastics sheets serving as supports are reinforced by a metallisation applied by spraying. The absorbed mechanical motive force and the energy absorbed are reduced by 20-40%.
