<p>The grape harvesting machine which is pulled behind a suitable traction vehicle has a hollow side wall (14) through which air is blown to form a support layer for the harvested material supported by slats (12) projecting inwards at ground level, towards a collector chamber. The other side is formed by a bin (30) with a belt conveyor travelling around it. This conveyor has partitions (24) across its inside surface to lift the grapes from ground level upwards to the open top of the bin. At one end of the collector chamber is a fan (18) adjacent to which is a grape separator (10) with two stacks of reciprocating arms swung about a vertical axis by a hydraulic motor. The grapes on the bottom strand of the conveyor are retained by a horizontal sheet (26) from front to rear of the bin, sloping upwards and outwards. A screw conveyor under the bin, together with a pump, discharges the contents. The conveyor belt seals the top of the bin, which is filled with a protective gas.</p> |
