<p>The parent patent described a device for sepg. liqs. partic. for recovering oil which is floating on water. The device uses partly immersed skimmer rotors turning on a horizontal axis. Each rotor is in the form of a pair of truncated cones coaxially joined at their bases. In the region of the contact zone between skimmer rotor and the liq. to be recovered, the viscosity of the liq. is reduced to facilitate adhesion to the rotor. The reduction in viscosity is pref. achieved by heating the liq. The heat can be provided by a heater inside skimmer rotor.</p> |
