<p>The sensor for detection of knock vibrations in a water-cooled combustion engine uses a pressure sensitive element. It is arranged in the engine cooling system and thus is subjected only to a uniform temp. and low pressure conditions. The sensor enables timely and reliable indication of knock vibrations. The vibrations in the engine are transmitted into the cooling water. The sensor is mounted in the water jacket and enables prevention of engine damage caused by cavitation. Simple conventional pressure sensors may be used. They can be fitted without performing engine modifications. The location of the sensor is near the wall of the engine combustion chamber. Conventional sensors require special threaded holes and must stand a large temp. range.</p> |
