<p>The tube (7) is placed in a semicircular recess (14) in a plate (13), which forms one die half in a stamping press (1). Press (1) also contains two plates (2,3) employed to clamp a punch (4) with a rectangular cross-section, of which the long side is aligned parallel with the axis of tube (7). Plates (2,3) are sepd. from a second die half (5) by coil springs; and die half (5) contains a semicircular recess (6) fitting round tube (7) during the stamping operation. When punch (4) is retracted, the two die halves (5,13) open, so the cut piece forming by stamping can easily be removed from the die cavity. Slots can easily be made in tubes used to make camping equipment, metal furniture, domestic trolleys, vehicle chassis, and numerous other prods.</p> |
