The cutting bit carrier (1) is partic. intended for the cutting tool of a lathe. It has a flat bottom face and at least semi-cylindrical periphery (3) concentric to a bore (4) with a screw thread. The (triangular) bit is secured in a correspondingly polygonal recess (5) with bottom parallel to the carrier bottom by a central clamp screw in the bore (4) and the carrier itself is fixed from below by a retaining screw in a threaded bore (12). The side walls (8) of the recess are at equal distances (a) from the bore (4) centre. The periphery (3) may have two 45 deg. portions (3a) offset by 120 deg. with a radius (R) a little greater than the radius to the cutting tip of the bit.
