The mixing valve is designed for improved control of the two flows. It ensures that the user is not scalded by sudden temperature increase. Inside the cylindrical body (1) is a stationary valve seating disc (2), above this is a temperature selector disc (3) and above this is a volume control disc (4). The seating disc has two symmetrical openings each side of a centre line shaped as the two ends of a crescent, with a sloping segment dividing them. A third hole is located at the centre. The temperature selector disc has a central square hole and a hole each side, approximately rectangular, positioned partly on a centre line which crosses the tips of the crescent. The volume control disc has a slot across it which spans these three holes which are the water supply and discharge holes.
