The engine is driven by expansion of refrigerating medium vapour, having two or more cylinders with pistons, and whose swept volumes are connected to a gas converter. The gas converter comprises a combination of crankshaft and rotary discs, with a crank chamber and discs mounted on the crankshaft. The peripheral surfaces of the discs form the crankshaft journals, and they divide the crankcase into chambers. The crankshaft can also have bearings independent of the discs, which can be slid onto it.
