The service water tank (2), on a vehicle for cleaning sewers, is vertically partitioned (11) into a series of chambers (12-16), of which the first (12) is subjected to a circulating pump duct (5) connecting it to the removal container (1). The chambers are linked by through-passage apertures (17) near chamber floors, each with a movable overflow duct protruding into the preceding chamber. At its open ends, the duct is fitted with a float and an inflow aperture. The overflow duct may be in the form of an intrinsically movable pipe section.
