Roller installation for producing billets for tubes - has preload springs to reduce bearing wear

The billets for making tubes, are produced by pushing ingots between groups of rollers (2) with concave profiles. Each roller (2) is mounted on a shaft (4) which runs in bearings (5) fitted in eccentric housings (6). The shafts (4) are pre-loaded by compression springs (10) acting on tension bolts (9) attached to bearings (7) fitted to the ends of the shafts. The tension bolts (9) are arranged so that they oppose the resultant of the forces exerted on the shafts (4) during the rolling of the billets. A constant load is thus maintained on the bearings (5) with a consequent reduction in wear.
