In apparatus for supplying components to a mixing head each component is continuously pumped through a two-way valve, the valves being actuated automatically at predetermined time intervals alternately to direct the components to the mixing head and to by-pass them back to source. As shown, the base component and cross-linking agent of a polyurethane foam are supplied by pumps not depicted to the respective inlets 3, 4 of slide valves 1, 2 the plungers 5, 6 of which are linked by a yoke 19. The outlet pipes 8, 9 connect to the mixing head while those 10, 11 lead back to the source of material supply ; the valves are reversed at predetermined time intervals by an adjustable electric timing device 12 controlling the pneumatic or electromagnetic actuator 15. The pumps used for feeding the components are driven by a common motor through variable speed gears by means of which the component ratio can be adjusted. |
