Humus prodn. from ground bark - by high temp. composting with urea and humus bacteria

Prodn. of humus from ground bark, esp. conifer bark, comprises mixing with urea and composting with humus bacteria. The urea is pref. 0.5-1, esp. 0.8, kg. per cu.m. of bark. The process efficiently eliminates growth inhibitors present in the bark without the energy-intensive steam-treatment stage generally used.The urea allows composting to be carried out at high temp. and also supplies nitrogen in which the bark itself is relatively poor.
