Manufacture of barbed wire - has welded mesh cut obliquely to form sharp points

A welded wire mesh is produced with the longitudinal wires having a dia. of 2.3mm and the transverse wires 1.6mm dia. The mesh is formed with consecutive transverse wires lying on opposite sides of the longitudinal wires. The transverse wires are then cut obliquely midway between adjacent longitudinal wires and the short length of the wire is then bent around the longitudinal wire to form two sharp points. The lengths of barbed wire are then protected from corrosion by hot galvanising.
