PURPOSE:To cool a wire material coil after hot rolling efficiently and uniformly by introducing said coil into a towerlike cooling tower from its lower part, and conveying the same from the lower part to the upper part by means of a spiral roller table, thereby cooling the coil. CONSTITUTION:A wire material coil 3 let off from a laying head 1 is placed on a roller conveyor 2 in the state that it is eccentrically superposed. This coil is introduced into a cooling tower 4 and is conveyed from below to above by a spiral roller conveyor 5. The coil 3 has the quantity of heat from the rolling process and the inside of the tower 4 may be maintained at a required atmosphere temp. by this heat radiation. The air supplied with a blower 9 flows through a circulation pipe 10 and circulates downward in the tower 4. In the ascending process, the coil 4 is uniformly cooled by the air flow from below the roller conveyor 5, and is carried to the outside of the cooling tower 4 by a roller conveyor 7. |
