<p>A disc brake has a carrier (2) adapted to be secured to a non-rotatable part of a vehicle and having two circumferentially spaced arm portions (2a,2b), a pair of friction pads (3,4) supported on the arm portions of the carrier to slide in the direction of the axis of the disc, a caliper (7) mounted on the carrier to slide in the direction of the axis of the disc and a brake actuator (8) incorporated in the caliper. A pad spring (9) formed by bending a rod member is retained on the caliper (7) to bias the friction pads (3,4) in the radially inward direction with respect to the disc (1). Hook portions (3b,4b,3c,4c) are provided on the pad backplates to engage the pad spring (9) so that the friction pads become suspended from the caliper (7) when the latter is detached from the carrier (2).</p> |
