摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance the burnish effect to improve floating property of the head, by rotating the substrate for magnetic disc and by reciprocating the burnish head, where the rough face part consisting of the whetting grain layer including hard fine particles is formed on the slider face, under the state where this burnish head is brought into contact with the substrate. CONSTITUTION:The burnish head equipped with slider 2 which consists of hard materials such as alumina, SiC, flint and garnet and has the slider face, where rough face 4 is formed into 1-30mumRmax surface roughness by whetting grains, is reciprocated in the arrow direction on magnetic disc substrate 1, which has fine projections 3 on the surface and is rotated, under the state where the burnish head is brought into contact with substrate 1. Thus, the substrate of, for example, 0.15- 0.3mum surface roughness and >=0.25mum minimum floating height is burnished into a substrate of <=0.05mum surface roughness and <=0.1mum minimum floating height only by reciprocating the burnish head several times.
