PURPOSE:To suppress noise, by applying a prescribed voltage to the piezoelectric element in the period when the head is not brought into contact with the tape, when the piezoelectric element which can move in the direction vertical to the recording track is used to perform automatic tracking. CONSTITUTION:The head switching pulse applied to terminal 40 and the frame feed starting signal applied to terminal 41 are applied to AND gate circuit 42, and the signal in the section where head 19 is not brought into contact with the tape is supplied to voltage generating circuit 43. The output of synchronizing detecting circuit 23 and the output of voltage generating circuit 43 are supplied to piezoelectric element 18 from driving circuit 17 through smoothing circuit 24 and adding circuit 16, and piezoelectric element 18 is displaced in the direction parallel with the recording track. A part of the output of smoothing circuit 24 is applied to hold circuit 44, and further, another part is applied to comparing circuit 44. Piezoelectric element 18 stops when the displacement quantity due to voltage supply from voltage generating circuit 43 becomes the two-track pitch displacement quantity. |
