NEW MATERIAL:9-Dodecen-12-olide. USE:Perfumery. It has mint-tone sweet fruity aroma, and improves and strsses the functional characteristics of essential oils, perfumery, foods, tobacco flavors, etc. PROCESS:12-Hydroxy-9-dodecinic acid ethyl ester is hydrogenated in the presence of a Lindler catalyst to obtain a partially hydrogenated product, 12-hydroxy-cis-9- dodecenic acid ethyl ester, which is collected in the main distillate by vacuum distillation, hydrolyzed to an oxiacid, and polymerized by heating at 200-210 deg.C under 1 Torr. The polymer is mixed and dispersed with lead oxide, and depolymerized by heating at 220-230 deg.C under 1 Torr. The product is distilled again to obtain the titled compound. |
