PURPOSE:To maintain a stable triboelectrostatic charge quantity and to speed up the rising of electrostatic charge by coating the surface of carrier core particles with a resin contg. an electrostatic charge control agent and fixing a resin having the electrostatic charge polarity reverse from the electrostatic charge polarity of the coating layer and 1 or >=2 kinds of fine particles selected from inorg. materials to the coating layer. CONSTITUTION:The intermediate coating layer consisting of the resin contg. the electrostatic charge control agent is formed on the carrier core particles. The resin having the polarity reverse from the polarity of the intermediate coating layer and/or the fine particles of the inorg. materials are mechanically mixed and the mixture is coated on the surface of said layer to form the stuck layer on the surface of the carrier core provided with the intermediate coating layer by a mechanical effect, by which said layer is fixed to the particles. The carrier obtd. in such a manner is fast in the rise of the triboelectrostatic charge to a toner and is less deteriorated in the electrostatic charge quantity with lapse of time by the stirring and mixing. The stable carrier is thus obtd.
