<p>PURPOSE:To provide the role of parting to a solar battery, make possible the simplification and miniaturization of the device, decrease the assembling manhours and lower costs by mounting a switching element for voltage control and a thin film solar battery including a semiconductor layer on the substrate of a liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION:For example, a thin film solar battery 7 is mounted to the peripheral part of the substrate 3 of substrates 3, 4 which hold a liquid crystal layer 5 there between and are railed 6. The semiconductor layer included in the solar battery 7 is an amorphous silicon layer, and may be either of p-i-n type or p-n type, hetero type and Schottky barrier type. For the purpose of controlling voltage to be applied on the liquid crystal 5, a switching element is formed on the substrate 3 by a field effect type transistor. The same kind of semiconductors are used, for example, for the semiconductors 23, 24 of the solar battery SC of the substrate 3, and the semiconductors of the source (s), drain (d) and channel part 21 of the switching element SW, so that they may be manufactured by the same production process.</p> |
