PURPOSE:To reduce tip abrasion due to ball rotation, to supply ink smoothly and uniformly and thereby to improve writability, by adding a metal naphthenate to an aqueous ink for ball-point pens containing a dye, water, etc. CONSTITUTION:The ink of the purpose is prepared by adding about 0.01-5wt% salt of a naphthene ring-containing saturated carboxylic acid with a metal such as Co, Mn, Zn, Al, Cu, Na, K or Li to an ink for ball-point pens containing a dye, water, etc. The reason why such a metal naphthenate can give excellent lubricity is considered to be as follows. The metals of a metal naphthenate adhere firmly to a ball and the metal part of a ball holder, and the naphthene rings and the aliphatic hydrocarbon chains form a film at the interface between the ball and the holder. This film prevents direct contact between metals or between metal and plastic. |
