The cover of the outer end of a sanitary (menstrual) absorbant pad is made of a material having a porous structure which is impermeable to body fluids but permeable to air. The cover is made of a non-woven material comprises approx. equal proportions of wood pulp fibres, viscose fibres and a binder resin, at a grammage of 10-100, pref. about 30g/ sq.m, with a coating of silicon (resin) at a loading of 1-5, pref. about 2 g/sq.m. Alternatively the non-woven cover is of (spun-bonded) polypropylene fibres to a grammage of 10-100, pref. about 20g/sq.m, e.g. as made by 'SODOCA' (RTM). More comfortable, 'cooler' to use than pads with a totally impervious outer cover. If made of the pref. materials, can be sterilised using steam at 120 deg.C.
|
