<p>The solar heat collector for heating a water supply or for warming the water in a swimming pool has a large surface area compared with its thickness. It is made of ageing and heat resistant UV stabilised plastics material such as polypropylene and incorporates a pattern of several zigzag water circulating channels. This pattern is substantially symmetrical about the longitudinal axis of the rectangular unit. The ends of these zigzag coils are roughly hairpin shaped, with sets of bends of one coil fitting inside the bends of adjacent coils forming triangular intermediate zones. The summits of these triangles are formed by acute angles of between 1.6 and 20 degrees. The lines bisecting these angles are parallel to the shorter sides of the rectangular unit.</p> |
