Sliding clasp fastener has interlocking hook and eye elements - with ribs and abutting surfaces to prevent relative rotation

The Parent Patent describes a sliding clasp fastener in which the individual coupling elements each comprise a coupling head and coupling eye and have two welded, parallel flanges between which the fabric is sandwiched in a tapering groove having its depth increasing towards the supporting tape. In the Patent of addition, the coupling heads each have projecting ribs in alignment with the coupling eyes; when the fastener is closed, these ribs engage into the corresponding eye on the opposite tape of the fastener. This prevents rotation of the coupling units under a transverse pull across the fastener. Abutment surfaces also prevent this rotation in the coupled state. The abutment surfaces are pref. on both sides of the coupling head and both sides of the coupling rib.
