The adjustment mechanism which connects the two articulated fitments attached to the seat cushion and backrest includes a compression body which is connected to an articulated part (17) of one articulated fitment (11) and which moves in a fluid-filled chamber when the backrest is moved. The chamber is pref. a component of the second articulated part (15) which is connected by a swivel axis (19) to the first articulated part which controls the compression member, which is pref. a piston moving in a closed cylinder by means of a rod connected to the movable fitment part.
