The method joins the ends of a conveyor belt having tension- resistant inlays formed by ropes, cords etc. inclined to the lengthwise direction. Parts are cut out from each end whose thickness (d) is approximately half that (D) of the belt, so as to include the top and bottom covering surfaces and the rope inlays (2,3) and form complementary protrusions on the opposite belt ends. These are then brought together and joined by hot vulcanisation or gluing. The parts cut out can be in the shape of right-angled triangles, the hypotenuses running parallel to the ropes, while one of the other sides is formed by the end face of the respective belt end (8,10).
|
