<p>The ball-bearing comprises two races, each with a groove in which the balls work, these being held apart by spring components between them. These components are formed by an endless plastics thread (4), passed round the balls (3) in a zigzag pattern. The contact surface between balls and thread is at or near their axes of rotation, in addition to which its flexibility allows them to run along it at a relatively low speed, thus reducing friction and wear.</p> |
