<p>The method cuts through the earth and partly through the roots near the stem of a tree or stump, using a powerful jet of a medium such as water under high pressure. The water is discharged from a nozzle in the vertical and horizontal directions. The jets can be so aimed as to make a circular vertical cut intersected by a horizontal one, being discharged from a lance served by a high-pressure pump. After making the vertical cut, the lance is then inserted and turned about a vertical axis to make the horizontal one, and detach a round body from the ground completely.</p> |
