In both ends of the anode bar is a threaded bush(6), which can be used to fix the anode bar on the wall of a tank or container, so the anode corrodes in preference to the material of which the tank is made. Bush(6) screws into a blind hole in the anode bar, and contains a sliding piston formed by a peg(7) which pref. carries two O-rings mating with the bore of bush(6). When the anode material has been consumed, the pressurised fluid stored in the tank can enter the bore of bush(6), and thus pushes the peg(7) outwards to provide a warning signal that the anode should be replaced. The movement of peg(7) may be used to create a radio signal via a miniature transmitter, the signal being picked up by a remote receiver.
