Radiation collector for solar heating system - is evacuated sealed unit with top and base plates adhesively secured to aluminium frame

The solar collector has a plate incorporating channels (26) for circulating a heat exchange liquid. This plate is enclosed inside a sealed unit under vacuum. The unit has a base plate (6) and a top plate (10) enclosing this plate, and supported by a frame made from an aluminium extrusion (8). This aluminium section has a vertical arm (12) with a horizontal arm (13) top and bottom forming a sideways U shape, and a vertical extension (14) top and bottom. This forms two angles to receive the edges of the top and base plates. The joint lines (14,16) are secured by adhesive before the unit is subjected to vacuum.
