The saucepan or other cooking pan is encased by a second outer wall which extends from the upper edge of the pan down to the base where it is open since is it only connected to the pan round the top edge leaving a cavity between the two walls. The outer pan wall is provided on its upper part with recesses which can be made larger or smaller by a slide ring according to the size of the pan. An excess pressure valve can also be provided to prevent a dangerous build-up of pressure in the cavity. The heat from around the sides and base of the pan can now be re-used to heat the same pan ensuring a faster cooking time.
