PURPOSE:To prevent the galling, heat cracking and abrasion of the roll surface in the hot rolling of steel, by using an aqueous lubricant obtained by mixing graphite powder having specific particle size with specific dispersing agent, thicknener, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective lubricant having an apparent viscosity of 1.1-1.3 and a viscosity of 5-100 poise, is prepared by mixing and dispersing (A) 1- 10wt% of graphite powder having particle diameter of 0.1-50mu, (B) 0.1-0.5wt% of sodium naphthalenesulfonate as dispersing agent, and (C) 1-5wt% of a thickener such as polyethylene oxide, methylcellulose, etc., homogeneously in (D) 85- 98wt% of water. The lubricant is sprayed through a spray nozzle 6 to the rolling surface 3 of a hot rolling roll 1 which is rolling a steel sheet 2, whereby a lubricating film is formed on the surface 3 to protect the surface. EFFECT:The slip scratches of the rolled surface can be prevented. |
