PURPOSE:To prepare the titled agent which keeps its original flexibility and deformability even by cooling below the freezing point, and contains a crosslinked polymer obtained by the polymerization of a water-soluble unsaturated monomer such as a carboxylic acid having ethylenic unsaturated group in the presence of a specific difunctional compound. CONSTITUTION:(A) A water-soluble unsaturated monomer composed mainly of a carboxylic acid having an ethylenic unsaturated group, a sulfonic acid, or their derivative (e.g. sodium acrylate, acrylamide, etc.) is polymerized in the presence of (B) a difunctional compound of formula (R is H or methyl; m is 3-200; n is 0- 200) (e.g. polyethylene glycol diacrylate) to obtain a crosslinked polymer. The amount of the (B) component is pref. 0.01-5wt% based on the component (A). 0.1-10pts.wt. of the polymer thus obtained is mixed to 100pts.wt. of water, and pref. added with a freezing point depressing substance (e.g. propylene glycol) to obtain the objective cold-keeping agent. USE:An ice pillow, an ice bag, an instant cooling agent for fish and shellfish. |
