This device is suitable for all car windows in which at least one window wiper is present. An electrical heating cartridge (4 and 5) is mounted next to any wiper blade of any window wiper (2 and 3). The heating cartridges are connected to the vehicle battery (8) via a switch (7). A red monitoring lamp (9) indicates when the device is switched on. By means of the heat from the heating cartridges, a layer of ice located on the car window (1) is made to melt. The window wipers are now operated. After a certain time which is dependent on the heating cartridge power and the external temperature, the car window (1) becomes clear. Such a device is easy to instal and comprises a small number of individual components, which also affects the price favourably. <IMAGE>
