SOLID AMMONIUM POLYPHOSPHATE COMPOSITIONS AND METHOD FOR THE MANUFACTURE THEREOF

The present invention relates to solid instant soluble ammonium polyphosphate compositions and to a method for manufacturing thereof. The new composition comprises diammonium pyrophosphate in the orthorombic form and monoammonium orthophosphate as main components being characterized by a particular powder X'ray pattern. The process involves the reaction between phosphoric acid and gaseous ammonia, obtaining a melt and solidifying the molten mass by a vigorous agitation. The ammonium polyphosphate is very useful as fertilizer in view of its high nutrient content and can be mixed and granulated with other known fertilizers. It possess excellent physical properties being non-hygroscopic even at relative high humidity.
