REINFORCED INTEGRAL HANDLE FOR CARTONS A carton having a reinforced carrying handle is formed from a single blank of paperboard or the like. The carton has foldably connected panels defining a rectangular cross section tube with flaps extending from its lower end to define a closure. The other end of the panels is provided with a closure and carrying structure consisting of closure flaps extending from one pair of opposed panels and handle-forming flaps extending from the other pair of opposed panels. The flaps are arranged in lapping relationship with each other. The handle-forming flaps have central handle forming elements which can be erected with the distal portion of the flaps maintained in adhered relationship to each other and to the closure flaps. The handle forming elements are defined by score lines and a narrow band of tear resistant material is adhered to each handle-forming panel adjacent the score lines to prevent tearing of the handle-forming panels when the handle-forming elements are erected and disposed in confronting relationship with respect to each other.
