An apparatus for transfer of information in a decentralised ring communications network includes at least three information processors (1-4), which are designed to communicate with each other in two opposing directions by communications paths (5-12) for signals containing information. There are two transmitters in each information processor, each connected to its own communications path, to transmit signals carrying information, one in one direction and the other in the opposite direction; each information processor also contains two receivers, each connected to its own communications path, to receive signals carrying information, the first from one direction and the second from the other; each information processor also contains a data unit, which on receiving a signal carrying information addressed to another information processor, relays this on to the next information processor. Each information processor (1-4) contains two shunt connections, by means of which the signals carrying information can be shunted past the receivers and the transmitters, and is also fitted with a device for constant voltage differential, designed, in normal operation, to allow the signals carrying information to be passed to the data unit, but if there is an abnormally high resistance in a receiver, to send them to another information processor via either of the shunt connections in an intermediate information processor.<IMAGE> |
