<p>The panel for a door or piece of furniture etc. is built up from multiple veneer layers so as to give the effect of a thick, solid piece of wood. Parts of the sides of the composite panel are cut away, leaving a pyramid shaped central portion which is a decorative feature of this type of thick panel. A double sided design can also be formed. The veneer layers can be assembled in various combinations, with grain aligned in different directions, and certain layers made from the same wood. Those layers with the grain running at right angles to its main surfaces form up to 25 per cent, e.g. 10 per cent of the total thickness of the panel.</p> |
