<p>The balance includes a base (3) formed of a rigid tubular frame (7) supported on four adjustable feet to control the level of the platform (2). Two pivoted frames (8,9) each have three horizontal hinge lines parallel to each other and to the axis of the platform. The first two hinges (11,17) are supported by stirrups attached to the underside of the platform, while the second pair of hinges (15,20) are rigidly attached to cross bars of the base frame. The third hinge of each frame (27,28) acts on a central block to which the sensitive element is attached. The sensitive element is also attached to the base frame so that a vertical force exerted by movement of the pivoted frames is opposed, and an output is generated. The sensor may be a bar (34) fastened between the central block (33) and a rigid frame bar (37) lying at right angles to the above mentioned hinge axes.</p> |
