发明名称 MANUFACTURE OF BETAATYPE SILICON CARBIDE
摘要 PURPOSE:To manufacture beta-type silicon carbide with high efficiency by reacting carbonaceous powder and silica powder each having a specified particle size under specified conditions and carrying out catalytic reaction with the unreacted C again while preventing an escape of the resulting SiO from the reaction system. CONSTITUTION:Carbonaceous powder of <=60mum particle size and silica powder of <=150mum particle size are mixed in a molar ratio of about 3 and continuously reacted by heating at 1,200-1,650 deg.C in a vacuum or at 1,450-1,650 deg.C in an inert atmosphere. While preventing an escape of SiO generated in thr early stage from the reaction system, the reaction products are recovered, agitated, mixed, and pulverized to catalytically react the unreacted C with the SiO and SiO2 until the reaction is completed. Thus, ultrafine powder of beta-type silicon carbide is obtd. in a high yield at a temp. much lower than that of a conventional method.
