PURPOSE:To uniformly cool the entire coil of hot-drawn wire material during its transfer on a conveyor by measuring the peak temperature around the dense center of coil both side layers and by using the measured value to control the temperature and quantity of coolant. CONSTITUTION:Hot-drawn wire material such as alloy steel is formed into a coil 1 and trasferred by the conveyor 5. When the coil 1 is dropped at the step location of the conveyor, the temperature of each part is measured with a contactless scan type thermometer 2. The temperature signal is handled by the arithmetic unit 16 to find the peak temperature of the coil 1, which is entered the coolant temperature arithmetic unit 17. There, on the basis of relationship between the preset temperature for the wire material coil and the coolant temperature, the optimal coolant spray temperature for the entered peak temperature is calculated. The value is input to the temperature regulator 12, and the coolant maintained at that temperature is sprayed from the nozzle 3 installed at the step of the conveyor 5 onto the position of peak temperature. As a result, the entire coil is uniformly cooled, thereby producing a soft wire material without the need for softening annealing. |
