In this device, there is arranged in the heater tube (1) of the radiator (2) a radiator valve (3) whose temperature sensor (4) or control medium can be heated temporarily by a heating element (13) which is arranged in a circuit (16) supplied by a battery (15). In order to create a simple system in which the lowering of the room temperature can be controlled on the basis of various parameters and is effected rapidly, and in which overheating of the temperature sensor is prevented, a device (14), which acts on the heating element (13), is provided in the form of a thermostatic switch (14) or a heat quantity regulator, which limits the dissipated thermal power and/or the upper temperature of the heating element (13). <IMAGE>
