The invention relates to a process for preparing structured enamel surfaces on metal of various shapes and sizes. The purpose of the process according to the invention is, while avoiding the use of expensive raw materials and a major technical effort, to produce enamel structures which meet high aesthetic requirements. The features of the invention comprise using enamel slips as the substrate enamel and/or the enamel to be sprinkled on, which contain ground-in pigments or pigment mixtures or opacifiers, which demix or are enriched, in a manner so as to form contours, around the enamel drops impinging on the surface during sprinkling. The present invention is suitable for 2-layer single-firing enamelling (thin-layer enamelling), for direct enamelling and also for conventional multilayer enamelling. The invention is universally applicable, enamelling in the domestic domain being possible in particular.
