PURPOSE:To obtain such a universal motor as will require no particular means for decompression or pressure resistance by controlling a current flowing to each armature coil according to magnetized polarity and rotary position of a rotor yoke magnetized by a field coil. CONSTITUTION:Upon closing an AC power supply E, a field coil 8 of a motor M is AC-excited, and rotor yokes 6a, 6b are magnetized synchronously with an alternating field generated on a field yoke 7. Then, a position detecting signal is outputted from position detecting elements 15a, 15b according to positions of the rotor yokes 6a, 6b A high-level output signal from a polarity decision circuit 22 and a position signal forming circuit 21 having received a detection signal of a magnetized polarity detecting element 16 provided on the field yoke 7 is outputted by way of a selector circuit 23, and suitable transistors 24a-24c corresponding to positions of the rotor yokes 6a, 6b are thus turned on. Armature coils 10a-10c are then supplied with a current from a full-wave rectification circuit 25, and the motor M is actuated. |
