<p>Substituted 2-benzylpyrrolidines of the general formula wherein R1 denotes a hydrogen atom, a straight-chain or branched aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbon radical, a cycloalkylalkyl group or an aralkyl group, R2 denotes a halogen atom, an alkyl group, a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group, an acyloxy group, an amino group which may be substituted, a nitro group, a phenyl group which may be substituted, R3, R4 and R5 are the same or different and denote a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group, an acyloxy group, an optionally substituted amino group, a nitro group, an optionally substituted phenyl group, and their quaternary alkyl-pyrrolidinium compounds and their acid addition salts are pharmacologically active compounds. They display actions on the central nervous system, the blood pressure and the pain sensation of warm-blooded animals. Their preparation is effected according to various processes, e.g. through reduction of corresponding 2-benzylpyrrolidines or functionalisation of corresponding 2-benzylpyrrolidines or reduction of N-acyl-2-benzyl-pylrolidines.</p> |
