This invention relates to a method and a device for installing a ground wire in the ground. Conventional ground wires often consist of copper-plated steel tube sections, which are successively driven into the ground and jointed, whereby a great number of joints are obtained which reduce the conductivity of the ground wire assembly. Moreover, during the driving operation, the copper plating of the steel tube sections is also subject to damage. In the present invention, the ground wire is provided in the form of a coherent metal wire of copper or the like and is installed by means of a driven member, which is connected to the lower end of the wire and is driven through a succession of driven extension elements. The device is installed in the ground with the wire running along the outside of the extensions. In this manner, a continuous ground wire of high, uninterrupted conductivity is obtained, whilst preserving the advantages of relatively simple installation through the medium of a rigid driven system.
|
