A universal joint is of generally conventional arrangement and includes a cross(40) having a trunnion(41) a each end thereof, a bearing race on each trunnion and a pair of yokes(10) each connected to an opposing pair of bearing races(20). In the preferred embodiment the cross(40) includes a conical shoulder(52) adjacent each trunnion and the seal(50) includes a first portion adjacent the trunnion, a second portion radially disposed and adjacent bearing race and includint a plurality of circumferential ribs(53-56) and a third portion engaging conical shoulder(57) and including a plurality of circumferential ribs(58-61).
